The Cluster Databank 1.0 is the first version of experimental databank for reactions of gas phase cluster species with small stable molecules, established by the cluster chemistry team at Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS). The results for the reactions of atoms and diatomic species in the gas phase are also included in the databank. The most noteworthy features of Cluster databank 1.0 are: 1) 28529 reactions for over 10000 representative isolated reactive species with various small molecules are now made readily searchable online, 2) the rate constants compilation is now substantially enriched to have more than 20000 experimental data. Thus, the cluster database provides the heretofore most comprehensive reaction information and the most convenient approach to find the data with its powerful searching engine.
Gas-phase studies on “isolated” reactants provide an ideal arena for probing experimentally the thermodynamics and kinetics of a chemical reaction in an unperturbed environment at a strictly molecular level, without being obscured by poorly defined or difficult-to-control solvation, aggregation, counter ion, and other effects. Questions can be addressed on how factors such as cluster size and dimensionality, stoichiometry, oxidation number, spin and charge states, degree of coordinative saturation, etc. will affect the outcome of a chemical process. However, frustration is often encountered in finding the right data from oceans of literature, due to lack of a powerful searching engine. As a consequence, the information of reaction channels and rate constants obtained from experiments as a guide in doing rational chemistry research on development of theoretical methods and data models, as well as design of new cluster experiments has been much depressed. Hence, the cluster database is built to untangle such a problem for internet users.
Further updating of the cluster database will include new reaction systems, structures and chemical properties of the reactive species.
The cluster database is provided free of charge for non-profit making academic use only. The users of the cluster database are requested to cite this website http://www.clusterdatabank.com/ in their publication/ presentation whenever applicable. Feedbacks from users are highly valuable for improving the cluster database and will be most appreciated.
